We updated this article in June 2022 to add more information about each featured product, based on extensive research done by our team.

Whether you’re a hot sleeper or have sensitive skin, what you put on your bed can make a big difference when it comes to bedtime. The best bamboo sheets offer breathability and comfort to help you get the most out of your night’s rest.

Marissa Garshick, M.D., F.A.A.D, a dermatologist at MDCS and assistant clinical professor of dermatology at Cornell - New York Presbyterian Medical Center says that bamboo sheets are great for those with skin concerns. “They are both breathable and absorbent, making them a good option for those with sensitive skin.” Bamboo sheets are great for people with specific skin conditions, too. “Bamboo sheets often feel soft and smooth on the skin, which can be important for those with eczema or sensitive skin to prevent further irritation of the skin,” continues Dr. Garshick.

“Bamboo sheets have been associated with fewer skin breakouts because bamboo fiber is naturally antibacterial,” says Corey L. Hartman, M.D., F.A.A.D., founder of Skin Wellness Dermatology in Birmingham, AL. “They are also three to four times as absorbent than cotton sheets and wick away sweat and moisture from the skin as you sleep to reduce bacterial overgrowth and occlusion of pores which lead to acne and folliculitis.”

Now that you know the benefits, we’re taking the guesswork out of finding the best bamboo sheets. Shop top-rated options derived from bamboo, to add to your linen closet asap.

We consulted experts Dr. Garshick, Dr. Hartman, the Good Housekeeping Institute, conducted our own research on the best bamboo sheets, and sifted through hundreds of online reviews to find the best bamboo sheets available.

With over 23,000 Amazon reviews, this sheet set is a great choice for those looking for something wrinkle-resistant. Crafted from regenerated cellulose fiber from rayon, these sheets help regulate heat making for a breathable, odor-, stain-, and wrinkle-resistant product. They’re also easy to clean. Plus, it’s great for deep-pocket mattresses—designed with extra-deep pockets and all-around elastic. “Wrinkle-free softness, doesn't get too hot, makes for a good night’s sleep, wonderful product, a must-have,” writes one satisfied customer.

This six-piece set is great for beds with deep pockets–fitting mattresses up to 18 inches deep. The viscose set includes one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and four pillowcases. “I like these sheets so much more than I expected,” wrote one customer. “They feel nice when I am sleeping, they don’t get hot, they don't bunch up or wrinkle. They don't come off the mattress corners while I am sleeping!”

While these are technically made of viscose, they are incredibly soft and are what people think of when they think of bamboo sheets. There’s a reason they landed on Oprah’s favorite things. Personally, I use these sheets and it’s like sleeping on a cloud. They’re easy to clean (machine washable), incredibly soft, and don’t make me sweat under my duvet in the winter months. I can’t wait to see how they hold up come summer, but I am 10/10 a fan. And if you don’t like them, the brand offers a 100-night risk-free trial!

If you’re a hot sleeper (like me) then these sheets are just the thing you’ve been waiting for. According to the brand, naturally thermoregulating, this 100% viscose fabric wicks away moisture to keep you cool and dry throughout the night. “I purchased this for a friend whose body runs hot and they sweat at night,” writes one customer. “These were cooling and absorbed moisture. They’re extremely comfortable to sleep on. My friend purchased a second set and got them at a cheaper price. 👏🏻👏🏻”

Made from 100% viscose, these sheets are as pure bamboo as they come. Available in sizes twin to California king, these sheets look luxe without too hefty of a price tag. With a 300 thread count, it's in that sweet spot that Dr. Hartman recommends, too. “These are the best sheets that I have ever had on a bed,” writes one happy customer. “So comfy and soft it is hard to believe that I waited this long to swap out from my other sheets.”

Made of 100% viscose, small spaces in the fabric of these sheets make a permeable, yet absorbent fabric that helps to quickly wick away sweat, lending to a dry night's rest. The set comes with a flat sheet, a fitted sheet, and two pillowcases. Sleep in these sheets night after night without worry thanks to their tear-resistant and anti-pilling make. “I am very picky about sheets. I saw these on a lightning deal and remembered a shirt I loved that was ... bamboo. I read the reviews and decided to try them. I am so glad I did! After sleeping on these, my softest cotton ones don't feel as soft. This breathe so much better than microfiber,” writes one satisfied customer.

With over 3,000 five-star reviews on the company's website, these 100% viscose sheets are loved for a reason. Like all bamboo-derived sheets, they help regulate your body temperature while you sleep. But these feature a twill weave construction for a comfortable and cool set of sheets. They also feature extra-deep pockets so they can fit on your pillowtop mattress. “I purchased these bamboo sheets as a Christmas present for my girlfriend. She absolutely loves the feel of these marvelous sheets!” writes one customer.

The brand’s sustainable CleanBamboo™ fabric makes for a silky-soft, sateen weave that’s so comfortable. Crafted from 100% lyocell, the set includes a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillowcases. The signature sheet sets use 500x less water and produce 52% less CO2 than cotton, according to the brand. “These sheets are super buttery and come in such lovely colors,” writes one happy customer.

Made of a blend of brushed bamboo and microfiber, these sheets feel so much more luxe than their price tag. According to the brand, the sheets are stain-resistant, fade-resistant, and wrinkle-resistant. Crafted from 40% rayon derived from bamboo and 60% brushed microfiber, they're equal parts cozy and breathable. “As I mentioned before, I’ve had the Zen bamboo 1500 sheets several years now—I like them so much I had to order the same for a new twin bed,” writes one satisfied customer. Though we do want to note that reviewers warn that they don’t last as long as their more expensive counterparts.

✔️ Percent bamboo: When looking for bamboo sheets, it is good to look for 100% bamboo as there are some blends available that might irritate skin, Dr. Garshick explains. But pure bamboo sheets are incredibly difficult to find. Even though brands often advertise bamboo, what ends up in the fabric is actually rayon or viscose. Rayon is the umbrella term for fibers made from plant cellulose. According to Good Housekeeping Institute, the types of rayon include viscose, lyocell, and modal. While they are similar, “they vary based on the manufacturing steps,” explains Lexie Sachs, GH Institute textiles director and head fiber scientist. It can be confusing because the process of making fabric from bamboo does start with the plant. “But the raw plant materials are chemically dissolved to the point that they no longer exist in the final fabric,” Sachs told Good Housekeeping. “All that’s left is cellulose, which is then processed with more chemicals and turned into fibers.” All of this is not to say that viscose, lyocell, and modal sheets won’t get the job done.

✔️ Thread count: A thread count of 250 or so is ideal for bamboo sheets, according to Dr. Hartman. They “have lower thread counts than cotton sheets, but achieve a superior feel to cotton sheets with higher thread counts.”

✔️ Twill type: “When looking for bamboo sheets, it can help to determine the type of weave you prefer which can be twill or sateen, with sateen having a silkier feel,” explains Dr. Garshick. But at the end of the day, it’s important to figure out what you find the most comfortable.
