Garber teammates celebrate Sarah Basket (11) after she hit a home run during the softball regional against Frankenmuth.Kaytie Boomer | MLive.com
BAY CITY, MI -- Hitting isn’t designed to be a 50/50 prospect, but the nature of the game seems to be changing.
A stunning total of seven players on the final Bay County Softball Leaders list for 2022 batted above .500 for the regular season, meaning they get a hit more often than they get an out.
Normal seasons show one or two .500 hitters from Bay County. There was just one who accomplished the feat from 2001-07 and this year’s total matches the amount from the past four seasons combined.
Making the list even more eye-popping, Annaka Neetz of All Saints won this year’s Bay County batting crown with a .711 average and Brooke Moeller of John Glenn finished second at .615.
Bay City Western’s Abbie Hoff won her second straight RBI title while Essexville Garber’s Sarah Basket finished atop the pitching wins and pitching strikeouts lists for the second year in a row.
Here’s a look at the final regular season-only numbers from the Bay County teams of Bay City Central, Bay City Western, John Glenn, Essexville Garber, Pinconning and All Saints for 2022.
